If you don’t want to expose your IP address to advertisers and others, you may want to disable WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) in your web browser.
The service meant to allow browser based video conferencing without Skype in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, it can expose both the originating and destination IP addresses to third parties.
To disable WebRTC you can do the following:
- Add the WebRTC Block extension to Google Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/webrtc-block/nphkkbaidamjmhfanlpblblcadhfbkdm
- In Mozilla Firefox type about:config in the Location Bar (address bar) and press Enter and toggle the preference media.peerconnection.enabled to false.
